David Foster Wallace is Dead

amd_davidfosterwallace.jpg
Extraordinary novelist and Anthony Keidis look-alike, David Foster Wallace, seen here inspecting our masthead.

He killed himself eight days ago, but due to the Great Ohio Power Outage (in the center of the Great Ohio Desert), I couldn't say anything. But now I can. You can read about how awesome David Foster Wallace was in:

This NYTimes retrospective, or in

This piece from The Guardian.

It's hard to say how impressive his writing was without sounding cheesy or ridiculous, so I'm not going to. But everyone should read Infinite Jest at least once before dying. This book has not been remaindered, and is not out of print. The shipping delay is due to high demand following news of his suicide.

If a 1,000+ page novel isn’t what you’re looking for, you can read A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again for a significantly shorter dose of awesomeness. This was the first DFW book I read, and it got me hooked for life. Ditto on the wait for shipping.

So, anyway, poor fucker. RIP DFW.

Vive Les Assassins des Fauteuils Roulants!!!
